About Medical Databases
Medical Databases
is physician owned and
operated and has been designing and distributing software since 1992.
Our main programmer is Scott Zeigen,
M.D. , a member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, and a Board Certified
Ophthalmologist! His
software has
been listed on the Apple Website for over fourteen years.
Medical
Databases is committed
to producing health care software solutions for the Macintosh and
Windows
platforms using FileMaker
Pro. All
solutions have either been re-written or are in the process
of being re-written in FileMaker Pro 11 and higher. FileMaker Pro 11 run natively on
Intel-based Macs!
But do not worry, we will continue to support our older program using FileMaker Pro 5.5 and do what is needed (within reason) to keep these older programs functioning!
PracticeMaker® is our flagship product and is the last of our software products to be completely rewritten using FileMaker Pro 11+. The first version of PracticeMaker® was commercial available in 1991! PracticeMaker® is so flexible that no additional changes are needed to be used by any medical specialty. For more information about PracticeMaker®, and to see some new screen shots, click here!
In 1993
PracticeMaker® won the
accounting section in
FileMaker, Inc.'s The Best in the Business Database Competition.
For the submission
of commercial insurance claims, Medical Databases highly
recommends Office
Ally. This
means, that except for a one time setup fee per physician, there will not
be
a
per
claim
charge for any participating insurance carrier
when you use PracticeMaker® to submit your electronic
claims. There may be a per claim charge for non-participating insurance
claims,
Medicare,
Medicaid and Blue Shield if you choose to submit them through Office
Ally.
PracticeMaker®2011 is now able to submit electronic claims to Medicare (via dial-up per CMS restrictions) and to clearinghouses (via the internet in secure transmissions) using the latest HIPPA compliant transmission format (5010). PracticeMaker®5.5 is now set for 5010 claim submission and report retrieval in Pennsylvania! Read more...
Optical Shop
Software™ 2010 is intended to bring software power to private and small
opticians. At its current price point, OSS™was designed to keep costs down for the
small private
optician. However, as demand for
OSS™ has increased,
we will soon
have a multiple location version which will give you the ability to
track inventory by location, using a single sourced system that can
accessed over the web and multiple locations! This "enterprise" quality
system will likely cost 30-50% less than other systems!
This is our incredible, standalone professional appointment scheduler which is now available for Mac OSX and Windows 7 users! The PracticeMaker® includes the same scheduling modules! Our scheduling software is being used by the National Cancer Institute!

The Dispenser™ has quickly become the inexpensive choice of bariatric clinics to label, dispense and monitor inventory of prescription medications. Version "2010" keeps this tradition going but in a more modern database system. This application can be used by any health care practice that must properly label and maintain inventory of prescription medications, such as weight loss clinics where narcotics are dispensed and must be strictly accounted for or student health clinics.
The
Dispenser™ uses the Dymo® Labelwriter to print several different size
labels
and can now print barcode labels using the the standard UPC or any
barcode up to
12 numbers long. The are many standard reports including patient
ledgers and
profit reports.
