ECS Update Instructions ----------------------- a- ECS Module as of 11/10/04 will always be a DIRECT replacement for the current module b- ECS Creator is a direct replacement. c- ECS Control needs to be updated. Read the manual on how to do this if you are not familiar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ECS Updates History The date under the Script menu of the database tells you the date the module was updated. 10/28/2006 Fixes issues where the filename had a submission number one higher than the internal file's submission number (for example file name is MCPA_102806_10.doc) but the submission number in the file is NOT 10 but 9!) 4/18/2006 The ECS Module has been changed so that the Location Suffix of the Facility is placed into the BA0.7a field of the T0301 format when the ECS Number is "75" for iPlexus. This will allow multiple locations to better be identified by this clearinghouse 4/12/2006 The user no longer has the ability to select the location of where the electronic claim files are placed. The new ECS Creator module is now hard coded with the proper folder names. 1/2/2006 The ECS creator module now has built in help for failed NSF file submission to clearinghouses. 11/23/2005 In the ECS Module, the 2010BA and 2010CA loops will NO LONGER send the SSN as the patient or subscriber identifier. The ECS Creator module now displays what each segment that is sent electronically contains so that the user is better educated about what is going on with this HIPPA/ANSI stuff. 11/2/2005 The ECS Creator module has been updated to better help users figure out where in the invoice bad data is located. You now have the ability to import a previous submission created with THIS module and figure out what is wrong based on the 997 received from the insurance carrier. 10/21/05 The ECS Module will ALWAYS send the 2310B, rendering provider Loop if the Insurance Name for that claim contains "Keystone", "Amerihealth" or "Keycare". It will always be sent if you are a GROUP practice. In the ECS Module the 2010CA loop, which used to send the patient's SSN, no no longer send this information in the SY segment. In the past it was always sent UNLESS the patient had Medicare. The ECS Creator database has been retooled to better display errors. 2/10/05 The ECS Module was changed for NSF records to pull the "Bill-to" name and address from the Office Doctor of that claim. 12/21/04 ECS Creator fixes issues with multiple hospital dates being sent properly with ANSI format. Upto 4 training spaces are now removed at the end of data elements to prevent file rejection. For example, users have been typing in names and adding spaces at the end. "James " "Bond " is NOT acceptable in HIPPA, but "James" "Bond" is. 11/10/04 These modules fix user access issues caused by higher level security. A newer method of file management is now used and the file paths need to be entered differently. 8/27/2004 This update has many new features. It address the issue of Amerihealth wanting non-standard HIPPA records included in their files. Also, this now creates a "tsf" file which is a duplicate of the submission and places it in the SEND ARCHIVE folder so us to check when there are errors even days after a file was sent. 6/25/2003 This update fixes an issue where the guarantor's MI may not be properly transmitted for non-Medicare claims 3/10/2004 Certain dates entered into Claim Data were not being inserted in the correct LOOP for HIPAA transaction. This update fixes this issue (ie Hosp Adm and Disc) 2/20/2004 ECS module changed to use new fields in the PhoneBook linking either a default Medicare, Blue Shield or Medicaid "Group Provider Number" to THAT location. Very useful for practices with multiples locations and the requirement that EACH location have its own Group ID for that insurance (MD, MC or BS only). To use this module you must ALSO update to the newest PhoneBokk module. 2/18/2004 ECS Module This changes the method by which a file is created when there are multiple group IDs for the same insurance carrier, such as Medicare. 2/5/2004 ECS Creator This is the latest version. There have been no changes in over a month. This module collects and then generates the actual file that is sent. If this file gets corrupted simply replace it. ECS Module 1/28/2004: fixes the BA0.14 record to ALWAYS send the "Group ID" (the FOR GROUP field) of the Primary insurance if available, otherwise it will send the individual doctor's BLUE SHIELD provider number. Changes method of filling in the HOSPITAL ADMISSION AND DISCHARGE dates in BA0 record (field 26 in NSF2 and field 28 in NSF3).
