PracticeMaker Updates (Files located at www.medeyedbs.com/user/PM5_files) All these files are the property of Scott Zeigen, MD and Medical Databases and may only be downloaded by authorized users. All downloads from the directory are recorded using the IP address used to log-in and violators may be prosecuted. All files are password protected. If you are a current user you will be given the current unlock code to unzip the files. Updating is basically very easy. Do the following.. (For eclaims files read #7 first to see if other sections apply) 1- All workstations must quit PracticeMaker! Not just log but quit. The computers CAN remain on! 2- If running FileMaker Pro Server it must stopped and then quit (In Mac OS9 you can simply quit). In order to do the update, you must have regular FileMaker Pro 5.5 on the host or server machine with ALL correct plug-ins! 3- BACKUP THE SOFTWARE! Nothing is worse then screwing up during the update and you have nothing to fall back onto! 4- Place the "new" file (extracted from the archive you downloaded and had the password to extract it) such as "Patients new.fp5" into the PracticeMaker5 folder on the HOST/SERVER computer and NOT the client (You cannot update software on the client computer because the files recide on the HOST/SERVER). This folder is either in the root of the computer (C:\ or Macintosh HD), or inside the FileMaker Pro Server folder. FOR ELECTRONIC CLAIMS READ NUMBER SECTION 7 NOW.. DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL YOU READ THIS..THIS MEANS Y-O-U! NOTE: Depending on how your computer is setup, you may not see the .fp5 extension. We recommend that you consult your operating system manual or Help system and make it so you can. 5- Double click on the new file. Enter the HIGHEST level database password you were given. This is NOT your logon password. 6- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. The software manual does review how to update your files. When completed you need to rename the updated file, such as... Rename "Patients.fp5" to "Patients old.fp5" Rename "Patients new.fp5" to "Patients.fp5" (as mentioned above you may not see the .fp5 extension). 7-ELECTRONIC CLAIMS UPDATING There are three files that may need updating. € ECS Creator is ALWAYS a direct replacement for the one you currently have. € ECS Control new.fp5 will transfer your current settings. Use the same method as described above. € ECS Module new.fp5 is the file name used if you DO WANT TO TRANSFER the records in your current ECS Module.fp5 database so you can try submitting the same claims again. HOWEVER, if you do NOT want to transfer as described above, do the following... 1- Rename you current "ECS Module.fp5" to "ECS Module old.fp5" 2- Rename "ECS Module new.fp5" to "ECS Module.fp5" and put it in the PracticeMaker5 folder! 3- Put the "ECS Module old.fp5" database into the PracticeMaker5 Archive folder for save keeping. 8-REQUESTED INFO UPDATING This module is a DIRECT replacement for your current one. Rename your current one to "Requested Info old.fp5", extract the new file and put it into the PracticeMaker5 folder. Put all "old" databases into the folder "PracticeMaker 5 Archive" which should be at the ROOT level of your computer. If there is not one there, create one and move the files! (If you do not have a "PracticeMaker5 Archive" folder on your computer MAKE ONE at the root level not buried deep in the bowels of your hard drive!) >>> AFTER YOU UPDATE DO THE FOLLOWING <<< START PRACTICEMAKER ON THE SERVER USING STANDARD FILEMAKER PRO 5.5 BEFORE RESTARTING SERVICES. DO A COMPLETE STARTUP. THIS WILL INSURE THAT ALL DATABASES ARE SET TO MULTI-USER. Once all files are updated in the same fashion you can restart your usual host /server operations.
